Tom Duffek

DUFFEK, Tom 68 of Wesley Chapel, Florida passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018. He was born in Endicott, New York and grew up in Horsehead, New York. Tom proudly served in U.S. Navy; he enlisted in 1968. He went to Hospital Corps School in Chicago, IL and finished his career in Newport, Rhode Island where his daughter Kimbelee was born. He then moved to Albany, NY where his son Adam was born. Tom’s career took his family to Baltimore, MD where he loved sailing in Chesapeake Bay and Annapolis racing. He enjoyed golfing, playing Texas Holdem, cooking, working in his work shop and traveling; he loved to travel but especially going to Newport, RI. He was a James Bond fan and loved watching and quoting his movies. He even named his pet “Bond, James Bond”. Tom loved educating himself on many topics on his computer. Tom’s greatest joy was spending time with his family; having cocktails and dinner with his wife, Judy, umpiring for his son’s baseball games, sailing with his daughter and his granddaughters were everything to him. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Judy; daughter, Kimberlee Duffek; son, Adam Duffek and his wife, DeAnne; sisters, Linda Hoffman, Abby Hayes and her husband, David; granddaughters, Elizabeth Dennis and Emma Duffek. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 30, 2018 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. The family will receive friends one hour prior to mass. Interment will be at Sarasota National Cemetery.
