Tomasa Vazquez

Mrs. Tomasa Vazquez, 65, of Brookside Ave., Amsterdam passed away Friday morning at St. Marys Hospital, Amsterdam. Born on February 2, 1940 in Naranjito, Puerto Rico she was the daughter of Secundino and Inez Figueroa Nieves. Mrs. Vazquez lived in Puerto Rico until moving to Amsterdam 43 years ago. She was a homemaker and was a communicant of St. Michaels the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She married Miguel A. Vazquez on December 29, 1961. He passed away on April 24, 2004. Survivors include a son, Miguel A. Vazquez Jr. and his wife Laurie of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Rosa Hernandez and her husband Roberto of Amsterdam, and Silvia Serrano of Amsterdam; six grandchildren, Amber and Stephanie Reynolds, Roberto Hernandez, Jr, Michael and Tony Serrano and Kevin Paul Serrano; her sister, Honoria Nieves of Amsterdam, and several other sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and cousins in Puerto Rico and the United States. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Funeral Mass to be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove St., Amsterdam with the Rev. Lawrence Decker officiating. The burial will take place in St. Michael?s Cemetery, Amsterdam. A calling hour will precede the funeral service from 9 until 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
