Tommy Lee Cady was born on February 27, 1945 in Long Beach, California to Lynn & Betty Cady. He "flew home" on December 12, 2017. Tom was preceded in death by both parents & his son-in-law Eric Misner. Tom was Grandpa to 9 grandchildren: Jonathan & Benjamin Weskalnies, Alex Misner, Brit Burkhardt-Clary, Brec Burkhardt-Clary, Jacob Burkhardt, Thomas Burkhardt, Christopher Burkhardt and Stuart Burkhardt. Tom spent his early years with his family at several Naval bases throughout the United States. The family then settled in Placerville, CA where he graduated high school in 1963. Tom attended American River Jr. College and received his AA degree. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force during Viet Nam and spent 4 years with their Audio-Visual Services making training films. After leaving the Air Force, he attended California State Polytechnic University in San Louis Obispo, CA where he received his Bachelor of Architecture in 1974. While there, he produced a 30-minute training film on Architectural Model Building Techniques. We visited there a few years ago and talked to students who had seen the film. They were impressed to meet him. Tom spent his 40-year career as a Commercial Architect in California & Arizona. He spent 9 years with Bechtel Power Corp. in CA & AZ and helped design & build Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station outside Phoenix. He then transferred his skills to Arizona Public Service to continue work on Palo Verde for another 14 years. After leaving APS, he worked 18 years on office, retail & residential architecture for Cornoyer-Hedrick, Davis Design Solutions & CCBG Architects. He retired in 2017. Tom enjoyed going to as many of his grandchildren's soccer, football, basketball & volleyball games as possible. One of his ambitions was to learn to fly small airplanes. He also enjoyed helping grandchildren with Science projects. A Memorial Service for Tom will be held January 5, 2018, 11:00 am at Happy Valley Baptist Church, 24220 N. 43rd Ave., Glendale, AZ 85310.
