Tommy Taylor
January 20th, 1947 - January 13th, 2023
Tommy Taylor, 75, of West Columbia, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023. Born on January 20, 1947, in Winnsboro, he was the son of the late Tyrine and Mozelle Taylor. He graduated from Winnsboro High School and served in the adjutant general division of the U.S. Army for two years. After leaving the military, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired from there after 34 years. He is survived by his sister, Judy Bishop of Lexington; nieces, Tonja Croxton (Lindsay) and Micah Youngblood (Cory); nephew, Craig Whitaker; cousins, Steve Taylor (Sandi), Kit Burroughs, Janice Groomes, Jimmy Davis, Terry Davis (Patti), and Billy Bell (Callie). In addition to his parents, Tommy was predeceased by his sister, Betty Ellison, and his son, Ty Taylor. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Tommy’s memory to the Special Olympics South Carolina, 109 Oak Park Drive, Irmo, SC 29063. Thompson Funeral Home is assisting the Taylor family.
