Toni Ann Gallegos

August 11th, 1936 - May 16th, 2024

Tonie Ann Gallegos was called home to be with our Lord on Thursday, May 16th when she earned her angel wings. She was heartbroken after the love of her life Jimmy Gallegos passed away on January 15, 2024. Tonie Ann was preceded by: her husband Jimmy Gallegos; her mother Secundita Silva-Gandert; and her sister Cristella Mason (Harold). She is survived by her daughters Anna Gallegos and Melissa Sanchez (Eric); Grandson Brandon Sanchez; Brother-In Laws Jerry Gallegos, Johnny Gallegos and Rubel Gallegos (Alice); Sister-In Laws Oliva Chavez (Sal) and Tessie Montano; and Many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was raised by her mother to have an unwavering faith, living a life that was dedicated to her catholic religion by attending daily mass and praying. She had a deep spiritual connection and a steadfast devotion to her faith through praying her rosary several times throughout the day. It was through this faith that she was able to endure an immense amount of pain all of her life, but she never let her health pain or health issues define her as a person and instead always maintained a positive attitude and a sense of happiness.

Her life was devoted to her family. Always sacrificing herself by selflessly prioritizing the family needs, and creating a nurturing and loving environment. She attended beauty college, a skill that came in handy by taking great pride to cut her families hair. It is through Tonie Ann’s boundless love, care, and sacrifices that will forever be embedded in our hearts.

Tonie Ann volunteered her time for many organizations. As a parishioner of St. Annes, she taught CCD and PE. She was the treasurer for SER Job for Progress, GI Forum, and Marine Corps League. Tonie Ann was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a place where her husband and herself enjoyed many functions with other veterans. She volunteered over 50 years at the VA hospital providing spiritual and emotional support to veterans. Her proudest moment in life was when she was asked to be part of the City of Santa Fe’s Senior Advisory Board, where she felt she made a difference for the seniors that live in Santa Fe.

She was an accountant for Jimmy’s Barbershop where she kept track of all transactions and financial reporting. This was a job she enjoyed doing since she had attended the College of Santa Fe was able to incorporate the finance courses she took at the College of Santa Fe into her job. She was a true wiz when it came to math, it was amazing how she was able to calculate numbers without even needing to use a calculator.

Tonie Ann enjoyed planting flowers, tomatoes, strawberries, and spearmint leaves. Her favorite flower was the rose and favorite colors were red, pink, peach and yellow roses. She had Jimmy plant rose bushes, sunflowers, and different colored flowers throughout the yard creating her oasis. The homes front yard had a red lava rock grotto with a statute of Jesus in it which was important to her spirituality and faith. May she enjoy the Heavenly Garden in heaven where she will no longer feel pain and will be at eternal peace and rest. We will always love you; you will be in our heart and soul until we meet again.

A special thanks to Dominique and Luis Trujillo who made Tonie Ann feel special and provided her the most exceptional loving environment during the last months of her life. The care, compassion and love she received and the wonderful outings they took on to make sure she had the best quality of life. The entire family is appreciative to Dominique and Luis for welcoming all of us into their family and creating an everlasting bond.
