Tony Vernon Tozi, Sr.
November 24th, 1955 - March 13th, 2014
Tony Vernon Tozi, Sr., of Jackson, CA, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, CA at the age of 58. He was born in Jackson, CA on November 24, 1955 to Peter and Verna (O’Callaghan) Tozi. As a youngster, Tony was an entrepreneur, raising chickens to sell their eggs to the neighbors. Tony was on the track team and graduated from Jackson High. In 1974 he went into the family business, Tozi Meats on Previtali Road in Jackson until 2000. Tony continued as a meat cutter until 2012. He enjoyed working on his ford coupe hot rod and painting his trucks. One of his trucks was featured in a magazine. Tony enjoyed building things and was always tinkering on something. He was a quiet, compassionate man, a fighter to the end, and a best friend when you needed him. Tony is survived by Joann Tozi and his son, Tony Tozi, Jr. and his wife, Sabrina of Jackson, CA; daughters, Gena Vona and her husband, Nick of West Sacramento, CA, Sandra Tozi and her boyfriend, David of Sparks, NV; sister, Cheryl Herndon and her husband, Ray of Pine Grove, CA; grandchildren, Sarah, Gianna, Grace, John, and Alexis. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah. Friends are invited to attend a visitation Friday, March 21, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Daneri Mortuary. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 22 at 11:00 A.M. at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson. Interment will be in the Jackson Catholic Cemetery in Jackson. Memorial contributions may be made to Diocese of Sacramento, 2110 Broadway, Sacramento, CA 95818 or Sutter Creek Church of the Nazarene, 14050 Ridge Road, Sutter Creek, CA 95685.
