Trinidad "Trini" Celebrado

May 20, 1923 – February 26, 2018 74-Year Resident of Davenport A recitation of the Holy Rosary and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday and Friday for a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and devoted friend, Trini Celebrado, who passed away peacefully with her loving family gathered around her bedside. Born in Kauai, Hawaii, she was 94 years old. Trini was dedicated to her nine children, their families, and to her community. She moved from her native Kauai to Philippine Islands as a child. At the age of 13, she moved to the United States, traveling alone, to live with her aunt and uncle in Isleton, California. She attended the local school in Isleton and worked in her aunt and uncle’s store. In 1940, while attending a party in Watsonville at age 18, she met Celedonio "Sal" Celebrado, and the couple were married in 1942, and started their family in 1944. Her beloved husband of 67 years, Celedonio, preceded her in death in 2009. For more than 40 years, Trini was a dedicated volunteer in the outreach services for the Filipino Community in Davenport, where she was respected for devotion to that community. Trini was a long time parishioner of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, where she served on the altar society. She was a member and past president of the Holy Family Guild, and member of the Davenport Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary. Trini was an accomplished cook and loved to prepare wonderful foods and deserts for community fundraisers. She was especially famous for her chili beans and her wonderful apple pies. Many family memories will be cherished of her love for traveling on trips with her loved ones to Lake Tahoe, Reno, or just going on long drives. Family gatherings and parties were very special to her, and her door was always open for friends and family to stop by for whatever reason. She will be fondly be remembered as a woman blessed with kindness and a nurturing nature. Trini is survived by her sons and daughter in law; Don and Phyllis Celebrado of Kauai, Dennis Celebrado of Davenport; her daughters and sons-in-law; Arlene De More of Santa Cruz, Caroline and Simon Dangzalan of Santa Cruz, Josephine Gilbert of Davenport, Maria Celebrado (Dante) of Santa Cruz, Theresa and Carsten Johnsen of Davenport, Noel Celebrado (Edy) of Davenport, Cathy Celebrado (Michael) of Santa Cruz. Grandchildren: Deric Dangzalan (Jennifer) ,of Santa Cruz Dion Dangzalan (Melenie) of Santa Cruz, Brad Celebrado (Shelly) of Kauai, Julie Rapozo (Matt) of Kauai, Kevin Celebrado (Sasha) of Kauai, Mark Celebrado (Shereen), Maggi Richard (Sam) of Kauai, Christi Celebrado of Kauai, Jonah Celebrado (Tracy) of San Francisco, Brandie Celebrado of Davenport, Jonathan Celebrado (Courtney) of Santa Cruz, Jamilla Celebrado of San Francisco, Felizia and Marcial Celebrado of Davenport, and Isaiah and Elijah Lewis of Santa Cruz . Great Grandchildren: Nathan and Jacob Dangzalan of Santa Cruz, Caden, Mason, and Valyon Celebrado of Santa Cruz, Rusty and River Monroe of Davenport, and Gerry Ray Ray and Jayden Celebrado; Kalen Celebrado, Kenzee and Kaden Rapozo; Cade, Kaian, Keeva, and Canyon Celebrado; Eli, Cody, and Micah Celebrado, and Felicity Richard and Khloe Celebrado all of Kauai, and Ralphie Garcia of Santa Cruz. She also leaves her great great grandchild, Kaedja Celebrado of Kauai, and her siblings; Amelia Ocapan, Bob Arro, Mercedes Conception, Tony Ricaporti, and Jimmy Ricaporti. She was preceded in death by her grandson David Dangzalan and great grandson, Adam Dangzalan, and her son in-law, Donald Gilbert, along with her parents Enigo Arro and Timotia Banio Arro Baltazar; and her two brothers and sister; Phillip Arro Sr., Alfred Arro, and Gloria Arro. Friends may pay their respects at a viewing on Thursday March 8th from 1 p.m. to 5 pm at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel. The rosary will begin at 6 p.m. at the chapel. Mass will be on Friday morning, March 9th at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Davenport beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Santa Cruz, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Celedonio.
