Velma PayneSPRINGFIELD — A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Marquis Care in Springfield for Velma Payne of Springfield, who died July 29 of age-related causes. She was 93.She was born Dec. 30, 1916, in Meltfort, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Bernard and Jennie Harbour. She married Vaughn Payne on July 27, 1936, in Whittier, Calif. He died May 29, 1993.She worked at Equitable Saving and Loan Association and owned the Weefolk Shop.Survivors include a son, Donald Payne of Springfield; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
