February 18th, 1917 - April 13th, 2013

Vera Davison, our beloved Mom, Grandma and GG, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Hospice Gardens in Mesa surrounded by all her children. Memorial services for Vera, 96, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church, 2130 E. University Dr. in Mesa. Vera was born February 18, 1917 in Valley Center, Kansas to Omer and Anna Elliott. With her parents and older brother, Loren, she grew up on the family farm in Valley Center. Vera attended Friends University in Wichita, Kansas and was united in marriage to Herbert L. Davison June 1941. Herb preceded her in death in 1995 after 54 years of marriage. Vera and Herb centered their lives around their four children, Rex, Roxana, Reid, and Jan, putting down roots and raising their family in Wichita, Kansas. Their home church, Old Manor Baptist, was the hub of family life. Self employed and working together in their businesses, Vera and Herb retired to Mesa, Arizona in 1976. In retirement, Vera and Herb travelled summers extensively in the United States. They continued to center their lives around their grown children"s families and their church, Trinity Baptist in Mesa. Vera had an unwavering and deep faith in God and was an active participant in the Trinity Women"s group, Bible Study Group, volunteering and supporting mission work, children"s and youth activities, and a supporter of the church library. Vera especially enjoyed travels to and visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She most recently was surrounded by family to celebrate her 96th birthday! Vera also enjoyed reading extensively, writing stories of her life and loved ones, and playing rummy, rummikub, bingo, skipbo, hand-&-foot, and dominoes. Vera is survived by her children: Rex (Bonnie) of Westminster, CO; Roxana (Joel) of Hermosa Beach, CA; Reid (Sue) of Prairie Village, Ks; and Jan (Mark) of Harbor Springs, MI; and 8 grandchildren: Jennifer (Jim), Julie, Cheyenne, Skyler, Janay (Cameron), Chris (Heather), Spencer, Amy (Kurt); and 10 great-grandchildren; Nathan, Nicholas, Abriana, Annika, Marcos, Connor, Anna, Max, Ethan, and Allison. Vera also cherished the friendship and love she shared with Walter and Anna McEarchern of Mesa. In addition to her husband, Vera was preceded in death by her brother, Loren Elliott, of Mt. Hope, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the "Vera Davison Memorial" at Trinity Baptist Church, 2130 E. University Dr, Mesa, AZ 85213.
