VERA M. SUNDAY Vera M. Sunday, age 95, of Jackson, died Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Vista Grande Villa in Jackson. Ms. Sunday was born Nov. 28, 1910 in Battle Creek to George L. and Elzora (Frye) Brott. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Oaklawn Hospital and Lansing General Hospital for 11 years until retiring in 1975. After her retirement, she continued to do private duty nursing. She had enrolled in the nursing curriculum at Kellogg Community College at the age of 50 , and graduated from there at 52 with her degree and license. She has lived in Jackson since the late 1980's, moving there from Battle Creek where she had lived since 1986. Prior to that she had lived in North Carolina. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Jackson, and was a past member of the First Methodist Church in Battle Creek and the Marshall United Methodist Church. Vera was a talented dress maker, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well. She also liked to create weaved baskets, and wreaths. Later in her life, she had a great interest in genealogy. Surviving are her 2 sons, Alan (Janice) Sunday of Marshall and David (LouAnne) Sunday of Farmington; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanor L. Sunday and a son, Richard Sunday both in infancy, a daughter Patricia Begg, a sister, Nettie M. Brott ,a brother, Guy L. Brott and 3 grandchildren. Friends may call at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Sunday from 2PM to 8PM, with family present 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM to receive visitors. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11AM at Kempf Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Ross officiating. Cremation will follow services. Memorials may be directed to Jackson Hospice. Assistance with memorials available at Kempf Funeral Home.
