Vernon Edward Kooy
December 25th, 1924 - November 24th, 2021
Vern Kooy, 96 years, went to be with his Lord on November 24, 2021. Born in Boyden, Iowa; he served in the Pacific NW with the Navy during World War II. He raised his family in Mt. Vernon, WA until 1964, then moved to Lynnwood, WA and surrounding area. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Evangeline Elder, and wife Dorothy Kooy. He is survived by his Wife and Companion of 12 years Monica Kooy; sister Viola Reimer; two sons, Phil Kooy and Mark Kooy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and John Lutgen, Debby and Tim Bowen; eleven grandchildren: Brian Kooy, Brent Kooy, Jeff Dowhaniuk, Brad Dowhaniuk, Mark Kooy Jr., Jennifer Cowan, Nate Paris, Jolene Paris, Heather Dow, Trisha Winninghoff and Crystal Hanson; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Military Committal Service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 11:30am at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA 98042.
