He graduated from Tumwater High School with the Class of 1991. He married Ana Gutierrez on May 18, 2020, in Olympia. Professionally, Vern was a musician. He played with several bands, including Unwound, Long Hind Legs, Red Rumsey, Household Gods, and Oslo. His favorite band to listen to was The Beatles. In addition to being musically talented, Vern was artistically talented, smart, and could find the humorous side of things. He was a unique and caring individual who was always willing to listen. He loved doing the New York Times crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, Lego building, creating artwork, and watching the Seahawks with his family. Vern is survived his wife, Ana Rumsey; daughter, Lola Rumsey; sister, Lisa Walsh; and parents, Debi and Dean Seymour. He was predeceased by his dad, John Rumsey. An online celebration of life will take place on Sunday, September 6, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. Please check back for details.
