Mementos

Please join us in celebrating the life of Vernon M. Thompson. He was born in Olene, Oregon on October 30, 1927 to Chris Thompson and Stella Anderson. Vernon passed March 31, 2012, at home with Lisa and Ernie Cox. He was a loving father, grandfather, and was known to most as Uncle V or to some, Skinny Brown. He served in the Navy from 1945 to 1947 and participated in the Atomic Bomb testing. He was a story teller and a jack-of-all-trades. He worked on the railroad, was a logger and ran his own combine business. He worked in construction, but mostly loved working on farms. He was always taking his children, nieces, nephews and his brothers camping and fishing. Vern loved to play cards and made a living at it. He enjoyed working on cars and helping people. He will be truly missed by all who knew him and would relish that we think of him often and smile. He is survived by sister, Aggie Smith - NV; brother, Dwayne Thompson - Cottonwood; son, Dr. Randy Thomsen - Auburn; daughters, Rena Horse - Sacramento, and Pam Veelle - Oregon, and nine grandchildren. Graveside service at 11:00 a.m., April 6, 2012 at Glen Oaks Cemetery, with reception following at Trinity Methodist Church on Flume.
