Veronica Dana

"Springfield - Veronica C. (Smola) Dana , of Jeffery Rd. was called home to God on April 10, 2012. She was born August 7, 1912 in Belchertown, MA, daughter of Peter and Catherine (Swiatek) Smola. Veronica grew up and resided in Belchertown until the late 1960's, then moved to Three Rivers for 34 years until moving to Springfield in 2003. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Anne's Church in Three Rivers until its closing. She was an avid gardener and spent many hours tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She was also an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Carol Dana of Springfield and Judith Belile of CT, granddaughter Jill Cytron and husband Mark of North Carolina, along with her wonderful great grandchildren Matthew and Megan. She will also be missed by three sisters Sophie McDermott, Frances Ball and Amelia Miller and two brothers Rudolph and Victor Smola. Veronica was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Raymond "Sam" Dana and seven siblings Mary Mathros, Joseph Smola, John Smola, Walter Smola, Gladys Shelton, Stephanie Guimond and Julia Anderson. A Calling hour will be Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 9:30-10:30am. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 in St. Francis Church.
