Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater
Veronica Ann Tracy
August 31st, 1949 - May 5th, 2016
Veronica Ann Tracy passed away on the morning of May 5, 2016 in Olympia, Washington. Veronica was a generous, caring, and loving woman who devoted herself to taking care of her family and friends. She was born in Olympia on August 31, 1949, to Aubrey and Patricia Conine. She grew up in West Olympia and graduated from Olympia High School. Soon after graduating, she started her career in public service with the State of Washington. In July of 1982, Veronica married Harry Tracy and embarked on a new chapter in her life that included recreational sheep farming. She loved learning how take care of the flock and particularly enjoyed raising and showing lambs at shows across western Washington. She also spent a lot of time on Puget Sound with Harry, fishing for shrimp and crab. In addition, she liked working in her yard and developed a deep interest in watching and taking care of the birds around her home. Veronica retired in 2000 after 30 years in state service, most of her time spent working for the Department of Ecology. She enjoyed working to improve our state’s environment in positions that included managing litter programs and working to improve air quality within the agency’s Emissions Check Program. In recent years, she enjoyed meeting up with friends for lunch, trips to the casino, or walks at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. She also volunteered at the Lacey Community Center and spent as much time as she could with family and took particularly joy in visits from her grandchildren. Veronica will be remembered and missed most for her big heart, loyalty to her friends and family, and fiery spirit. She was quick to help anyone in need. Veronica is survived by her brother, Jon Conine; sons, Brad Benfield and Greg Benfield; and grandchildren, Whitney, Kyle, Cooper and Nathan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Patricia Conine; her brother, Clay Conine; and her husband, Harry. Please leave memories of Veronica or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
