She is survived by her husband Brian K. Paget; mother Alice P. Holloway; brother George R. Holloway Jr. and sister Sonseeaya Holloway; beloved canines Zoe and Zack, and numerous extended family members and friends. A celebration of life will be held June 13, 2PM Foursquare Church North Campus, 601 9th Ave SE, Puyallup; casual attire, flowers welcome. The eldest child in an Army family her youth was spent traveling to military bases and in 1971 the family reported to Schofield Barracks in Hawaii on Oahu and eventually moved to Tripler Army Medical Center in Moanalua. In school Veta was active in student body government, band, hula, and the glee club. On base she actively participated at the church helping with the children's program, choir, Sunday school, and volunteered as a Candy Striper at Tripler; drill team, Girl Scouts, bowling, the beach, and Summer Fun programs rounded out her childhood days. As a senior at Moanalua High School she was elected to the prom court. Veta's bright smile and joyous attitude will be greatly missed; she enjoyed laughing with friends, singing, traveling, dining out, and shopping. She was a good listener and would go out of her way for family and friends. She sang at weddings as well as a part of church chorales. She enjoyed being in a Hawaiian praise and worship dance team. Her favorite place when she was not in Hawaii was Disneyland. She enjoyed the excitement and all the rides. She would scream at the littlest bump, get embarrassed and scream again on the next one. She loved anything that reminded her of the "Happiest Place on Earth" and always wore a Mickey or Minnie Mouse watch. Music was a big part of Veta's life. It started like a whisper with the clarinet, and finished with her voice, complete with the songs of the many enduring relationships she made through the years. She enjoyed performing and early on participated in school and church productions, appearing in Jesus Christ Superstar and Joshua and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Growing up she filled the house with her voice, which was somewhat unappreciated by her siblings, but over time became a welcome sound. In her adult years church choir fed her soul, and anyone who saw her perform could read the joy on her face especially when praising the Lord. And always there was Veta's smile...one of a kind. That smile invited us in, put us at ease, and lit up the room. She saw us with her heart, not judging us with her eyes. She gave us the benefit of the doubt, lifted us when needed, and displayed enduring patience and kindness. Veta was generous and giving, and smiling to the last; our lives were enriched by her presence and she will be forever loved.
