Vianes Rodriguez
June 2nd, 1932 - September 8th, 2017
Vianes Elias Rodriguez, age 85, went home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Friday, September 8, 2017. He was born on June 2, 1932, in the Española Valley, New Mexico to Vianes and Josefina Rodriguez, who preceded him in death, along with his siblings: Larry Rodriguez, Exilda Pacheco, and Isabel Kavanaugh. Vianes graduated from Santa Cruz High School (’50) and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army at the start of the Korean War. He was stationed at Fort Bliss and throughout the Southwest. Following completion of service to his country, Vianes earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Denver (‘55), becoming the first in his family to graduate from college. Vianes worked for Denver Urban Renewal Authority, helping to negotiate real estate deals throughout downtown Denver, particularly the redevelopment of the Auraria Campus. Following retirement from Urban Renewal, Vianes began to do property appraisals and became a successful real estate entrepreneur. He was an avid runner, and could undoubtedly be found running at Sloan’s Lake. Vianes loved doing the crossword puzzle in the newspaper and was an avid consumer of news. To know Vianes was to make an immediate friend, he was always quick to offer a warm smile and wave to anyone. A constant source of good advice, Vianes was your first stop to discuss any problem and you were guaranteed to leave feeling better. While Vianes was not one to treat himself, he was a proud, loving father and grandfather. He ensured that his family was always cared for and his generosity knew no bounds. Vianes is survived by his four children: Dolores Blea, Manuel (Loretta), Ralph (Jojo), and Carlos (Michelle) Rodriguez. As well as his grandchildren, who knew him as, “Bopsy”: Alma, Manuela, Vianes, Carlos, Julia, Avery, Isabella, and Sophia, four great-grandchildren, and the mother of his children, Betty Jo Rodriguez
