Vicki Helms Neel, (84), passed away peacefully on July 25th, 2024 at Briar Creek Health Center in Charlotte, NC. She was born on June 15th, 1940 in Belmont, NC, to Coleman Anderson Helms and Catherine McCarn Helms. She was a graduate of Belmont High School and Appalachian State University. Vicki was a primary school teacher, homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and faithful friend. She was also very active in the PTA State Board, Girl Scouts and South Mecklenburg High School Band (with her husband, Ray). Vicki was a founder and active member of Sharon United Methodist Church, and later Mouzon United Methodist Church.Vicki was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ray Neel, Sr. She is survived by her son, Ray Neel, Jr. and her daughter, Casey Neel. She is also survived by loving daughter-in-law, Lora Neel and devoted granddaughters, Emily Neel and Catie Neel.Services to celebrate her life will be held at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, starting at 10 am Monday, August 5, 2024; followed by a 1:30 pm graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery, 501 South Main St., Belmont, NC 28012.Flowers may be sent to: Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service: 1111 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203.
