Victor Mitchell Barton

LAKE WALES - Mr. Victor Mitchell Barton, age 92 a resident of Lake Wales and a longtime resident of Auburndale passed away Friday, July 5, 2013 at his home due to natural causes. Mr. Barton was born July 16, 1920 in Newberry, Florida to James and Ida Mae (Sifford) Barton. He was a resident of Auburndale since 1954 coming from Mobile, Alabama. Victor was a United States Navy Veteran, retiring from the Military as a Communications Specialist after 25 years of service. He also retired from GTE after 15 1/2 years of service, was a member and Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church in Auburndale, a member of the Auburndale Masonic Lodge #135 and attended the University of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife -Vera I. Barton; 2 sons - Donald Mitchell & Victor Michael; sister -Vallie Lee Norris and grandson- Wes. He Is survived by; son: James "Jim" Arthur Barton of Lake Wales, 2 daughters: Susie (Wes) Fentress of Norfolk, Va. Martha Ann (Raymond) Beall of Auburndale 12 grandchildren: James, Angie, Donnie, Jessie, Matt, Robin, Becky, Craig, Debbie, Carla, Melissa & Christina and 19 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, 300 South Main St., Auburndale. Visitation will be held before services from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow at the Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland.
