Victor Manning
January 13th, 1924 - October 30th, 2010
Victor Manning, 86, of Englewood, FL passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 at his residence with his loving family at his side. He was born on January 13, 1924 in Queens, New York to William and Addie (Parker) Manning Victor moved to Florida 20 years ago from Brentwood Long Island, New York. He served in the US Navy during WW-II as a rear gunner in a TBF aboard the USS Hornet. He was shot down over the Pacific and survived in a rubber raft for three days. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Mt. Sinai, NY and the American Legion of Rotonda West, FL. Mr. Manning was an accomplished artist who built many model ships from scratch just from looking at a picture. He also painted and carved. His works were featured on SNN Channel 6 and in the Sarasota Herald Tribune and the Sun Herald Papers. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Eleanor (Sundberg) Manning: three children; Victor Manning of Englewood, FL, Kevin Manning of Port Charlotte, FL and Eileen Migneco of Englewood, FL. He is also survived by two brothers; Lester of Elmhurst, NY and Leon of Sunset City, FL as well as six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Valerie Kelly in September of 2008. The family request that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Manning's name to Tidewell Hospice, Inc. 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238
