Viki Gaye Pearson

Viki peacefully passed away at home February 7, 2017 after a valiant fight with cancer. Born February 20, 1945, Viki grew up in Puyallup and graduated with Puyallup High School’s class of 1963. After marrying her beloved husband Gary in 1968, Viki successfully ran Viki’s Dog Grooming from their Tacoma home for many years before relocating to the Eatonville area in 1998. She continued her grooming business from her larger facility on Mt. Hwy until recent years. Viki’s life work was always centered on animals. Starting in the early 1980’s, Viki worked tirelessly with the local animal shelters and like-minded folks to save abandoned pets from certain death and find their forever homes. Since founding Puyallup Animal Rescue in 1984, Viki and her many volunteers have saved thousands of pets and improved innumerable lives in the surrounding community in the process. Viki’s work touched countless souls and her legacy will continue on in the ongoing work of Puyallup Animal Rescue. Viki is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Victor Rogers, and nephew, Nicholas Peterson. She is survived by her husband Gary of Eatonville; her sisters Judy Fogarty of Portland, OR, Sharon Darley of Battleground, WA, and Lisa Peterson of Puyallup, WA; nephew Jason Darley; nieces Lisa Graham, Anastasia Peterson-Patterson, and Katie Sutliff; great-nephews Jacob Darley, Fisher Patterson, and Oliver Patterson; great-nieces Paige Darley, Samantha Graham, and Alexandria Graham; and her many friends and fellow PAR volunteers. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, February 25th at First Christian Church of Puyallup, 623 9th Avenue SW, Puyallup, WA 98371.
