Vincent W. Ruggeri
June 2nd, 1953 - October 4th, 2011
Mr. Vincent W. Ruggeri, 58, of Broadalbin, passed away suddenly October 4, 2011 following heart disease complications. He was born June 2, 1953 in Ft. Belvoir, VA., son of Joseph P. and Jane Wyllie Ruggeri. Mr. Ruggeri graduated Broadalbin High School where he played football and baseball. He also played basketball in St. Joseph?s Church youth program. Vincent earned an Associate Degree at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Vincent raced and trained harness horses at numerous tracks including Saratoga, Monticello, Vernon Downs and Yonkers Raceway. He was a member of the United States Trotting Association. Most of his life he was a self-employed carpenter. Having a great sense of humor, he always had the ability to make people laugh. Devoted to his family and an excellent cook, Vinnie was often the center of gatherings with family and friends. He was a member of the Sons of The Legion Post # 337 in Broadalbin and often cooked for their affairs. He was also a member of the Sons of the VFW Post 8690 men?s auxiliary. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed hunting and fishing all his life. He also made wine as a hobby and was well known for his large beautiful garden every year. Vinnie will be sadly missed by his dear family and many friends. Survivors include his children: Alexandra R. Ruggeri of Gloversville and her companion David Antis, Vincent M. Ruggeri and Joseph A. Ruggeri, both of Johnstown. In addition to his parents Joseph P. and Jane Wyllie of Broadalbin, Vincent is also survived by a granddaughter, Crickett R. Antis of Gloversville, the mother of his children Linda Batty Ruggeri, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his companion of many years, Carolyn Bailey of Broadalbin. Vincent was pre-deceased by maternal grandparents, Dr. William ?Doc? and Harriet Montoney Wyllie and paternal grandparents, Vincent and Raphelia Passero Ruggeri. Funeral services will be held 10 am Saturday at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the James Brennan Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Rd. Gloversville, N.Y. 12078.
