Violet Draft Myers

Lexington – Violet Drafts Myers, 89, a couple months short of her 90th birthday, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, in Lexington, SC. Her family had been by her bed side for the last several days. Born in Gilbert, SC, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Vesta Kaminer Drafts. Violet was a member of Beulah Methodist Church in Gilbert, SC and also attended Mt Hebron UMC in West Columbia, SC. She had retired from Atlantic Greyhound Bus Lines and then again from Baptist Medical Center. Violet loved her family very much but she especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Violet was an avid fisherwoman and gardener. She loved fishing on Lake Murray and in Murrells Inlet, SC. She volunteered throughout her life and spent many years volunteering for the Tiny Greyhound Youth Football and South Little League Baseball in Winston-Salem, continuing to volunteer in retirement at Lexington Interfaith Community Services, Lexington, SC and visiting local assisted living facilities. Violet is survived by her sons, Gary Taylor (Von) Lexington, SC, Carl Huffstetler (Sherry) Charlotte, NC, and David Huffstetler (Angie)Lexington, SC; her brothers, Robert Drafts of Gilbert, Donald Drafts of Lexington, and Harry R. Drafts of Cleveland; sisters, Peggy Mills of Piedmont, and Sharon Besancon of Lexington; and her 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Violet was predeceased by her husband, Herb Myers, her son, Terry Taylor, and her brothers, David Drafts and James Drafts. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Beulah United Methodist Church, 161 Beulah Church Road, Gilbert, SC, 29054. Pastor Tony Rowell will officiate. The family will have visitation and greet friends before the service in the church sanctuary prior to the service from 1:30-3:00. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Beulah Methodist Church or donate to the Alzheimer’s Association https://www.alz.org.
