Daniels, Jr., Dr. Virgil Clayton, 84, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday January 27, 2002 at home. Born in Hopewell, VA, he came here in 1947 from New Orleans, LA after completing his residency in internal medicine at Charity Hospital. He also received an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, and later was a radiology resident from 1957-1959 at the University of North Carolina ? Chapel Hill. He was in the US Army during WWII where he served as a doctor in the Medical Corp. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, and the First Baptist Church in Boydton, VA. He was a founding member of the St. Petersburg Medical Clinic, and a member of the American Board of Radiology, American College of Radiology, Pinellas County Medical Society, Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Virginia Medical School, life member of the Florida Medical Association, Radiology Society of North America, Board of Internal Medicine, Fellow-American College of Physicians, Thomas Jefferson Society of University of Virginia Alumni and the Southern Medical Association. He also received a 25 year certificate of service at St. Anthony?s Hospital, and was a honorary member of the medical staff of Bayfront Medical Center. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jeanne; three sons, Virgil C. Daniels, III of Gunnison, CO, Robert W. Daniels of St. Petersburg, FL, Douglas R. Daniels of Tallahassee, FL; one daughter, Donna J. Daniels, Carrboro, NC; one brother, Harry D. Daniels of Raleigh, NC and four grandchildren.
