Virgil Ray Roberts, Sr.
October 6th, 1939 - March 2nd, 2019
Virgil Ray Roberts, Sr., of Sutter Creek, CA, was born in Fruita, CO on October 6, 1939, and passed away at the age of 79 on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Virgil met the love of his life, Rebecca Jauregui, at the bowling alley located on Main Street in Jackson. The two went on to celebrate five beautiful children and 57 years of marriage together. He proudly served in the U.S. Army before working as a lathe operator for 28 years and upon retiring from the mill, he took a job as a deliveryman for Prospect Motors for eight years before officially retiring. Friends and family will remember how much he enjoyed playing pool, watching football and Dr. Phil, and cheering on his kids and grandkids at their sporting events. He never missed a softball game where his granddaughter played, and was incredibly devoted to his family. Virgil leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Rebecca C. Roberts, of Sutter Creek, CA; four daughters, Kimberly (Adam) Mayberry, of Jackson, CA, Andrea Roberts, of Jackson, CA, Tammy Roberts, of Folsom, CA, and Lorrie Roberts, of Sutter Creek, CA; son, Virgil Roberts, Jr., of Sutter Creek, CA; sister, Edith (Joe) Gascon, of Sutter Creek, CA; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Daneri Mortuary, 415 Broadway, Jackson, CA. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
