Virginia Lee Bailey, 83, of Kersey, passed away March 11, 2024 at Grace Pointe, surrounded by her family. She was born December 8, 1940 in Greeley to John and Helen (Fahrenbruch) Croissant.
She was raised on the family farm south of Kersey and graduated from Kersey High School in 1958.
On December 15, 1959, she married Walter Douglas Bailey at the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Greeley.
Virginia worked the past 32 years in the Platte Valley School District as the Secretary to the Administration and Food Service Director. After retiring, she served as a substitute until the age of 80 for the school district.
She served as the Secretary to the State Food Service program, traveling all over the U.S. for conferences. She also volunteered with the Weld Library District Board, judged FBLA competitions, active at Kersey Community Church and served as the secretary for 32 years on the Bailey Lateral Ditch Board. Her hobbies include going to Blackhawk, following the Denver Nuggets, Broncos and Colorado Rockies, which they held season tickets for about 10 years. They were also 30-year season ticket holders to CU football games. She most enjoyed time with her family, especially attending events and sports for her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Thankful to have shared her life are her husband, Walt, three daughters; Tammy (Rodney) Reinick, Pam (Scott) Greenly, Debbie (Jared) Jakino, eight grandchildren; Amber, Austin, Abigail (Kai), Tyler (Jennifer), Justin (Sarah), Levi (Carleigh), Nikolas (Hali) and Mitch (Paige), 11 great-grandchildren; Stockton, Paxon, Cutler, Stran, Rhenlee, Toryn, Tenille, Reese, Ryker, Adelynn and Landry, siblings; Patricia Stephenson, John (Debbie) Croissant and brother-in-law, Dave Clarkson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy Clarkson and sons-in-law, Ken Wilkinson and Fred Fangmeier.
Virginia’s Life Celebration Open House will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the Kersey Community Church Memorial Building. Memorial gifts may be made to “Kersey Community Church” or “Pathways Hospice” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Condolences may be shared at AdamsonCares.com.
