Virginia Jane Hurlbut Bateman, 82, formerly of Greeley, CO passed away in Centennial, CO on September 17, 2014. She was born June 17, 1932 in Meeker, OK to Charles and Pearl (Bishop) Hurlbut. Jane married Richard Joel Bateman a Cattle Buyer on September 4, 1954. She loved politics, music, the Denver Broncos and books. She was a librarian for Weld County Library. Jane was a member of First Congregational Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Panellenic Council representing her Sorority Chi Omega at Oklahoma State University where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. She was past President on the board of directors for Schaeffer Rehabilitation Center, past President of Cerebral Palsy Society of Weld County, Co- Chair on The American Cancer Society of Iowa and a secretary for the American Association of the University of Women. Jane is survived by her daughters Jane Ann Bateman, Laura Lee Nicoletti, Mary Elizabeth Bateman and Susan Lynne Conner, Grandchildren Richard, Nicholas, Jordan, Andrew, Grant and Gracie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard and daughter Claire Alison Bateman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at First Congregational Church 2101 16th Street, Greeley, with interment at Linn Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to "Alzheimer Association” or "Arc” (intellectual and developmental disabilities) in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
