Ways you can honor Virginia's memory:
Virginia Osterberg Beckwith, 94, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 10, 2011. A polio survivor, Ginny's courage and love of life inspired all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Stephen Lyon Beckwith and is survived by her children, Stephen Charles Beckwith and wife, Claudia, of Cocoa Beach, Carolyn Beckwith Hague and husband, David, of Burke, VA, and her grandchildren, Stephen Darnold Hague of Atlanta, GA, and Ashley Elizabeth Hague of Wilmington, NC. Born in Cadillac, MI to Charlie and Hulda Osterberg, Ginny graduated from Northwestern University in 1939 and taught school in Manton, MI. She and Steve married in 1946 and moved to Gainesville, FL, where Steve taught at the University of Florida. They moved to Cocoa Beach in 1982 and were active in the Brevard Real Estate Exchangers, avid bridge players at the Patrick AFB officers' club, and members of the Post Polio Association and Cocoa Beach Community Church. A memorial celebration of life will be held July 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Cocoa Beach Community Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Cocoa Beach Community Church.
