Virginia "Ginny" Fontes
March 8th, 1933 - April 20th, 2022
Ways you can honor Virginia "Ginny"'s memory:
Virginia “Ginny” (Perry) Fontes, loving mother, grandmother, aunt and prayer warrior passed away peacefully at home on April 20th, 2022. Ginny was one of 7 children born to the late Marcelino and Maria (Gonćalves) Pereira in Midland, PA. She shared her birth day with her twin brother Virgilio and from that point on they were affectionately known as “Baby-girl” and “Baby-boy”. The family moved to Taunton, MA where she spent her youthful years hanging down by the “Weir” and attending dance parties at the Roseland Ballroom with her sisters, brothers, cousins and her future husband, the late Elden C. Fontes. Virginia and Elden lived in many places abroad and stateside as a military family raising their 5 children before settling in Boise in 1974 and attending Sacred Heart Church. Ginny worked for 21 years at Nazareth Retreat House Center where she enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life. Over the years Ginny became involved with many ministries at Sacred Heart including Eucharistic Ministry, Divine Mercy Ministry, Adoration, Prison Outreach and Legion of Mary. She also volunteered at the Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry as a greeter. Attending daily masses as well as fellow parishes funerals was very important to her. When her children asked her why she went to so many funerals she told them “she wanted to make sure there was always someone there to sing for them.” Ginny touched many people during her spiritual journey and she will be dearly missed. Virginia is survived by her twin brother Virgilio Perry of Taunton, MA, her sister Carlotta Pereira of Henderson, NV; her five children, Michael (June) Fontes, Elden “Cubby” (Melissa) Fontes, Sister Carlotta Fontes, Bonnie Fontes and Juanita “Boo” Fontes; 5 grandsons, Derrick (Deslys), Vincent, Anthony, Paul and Lukas; 3 great granddaughters, Lillian, Zoe and Lucy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews scattered across the country who fondly remember “Auntie Babygirl” as a fun and loving aunt. A Funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 27th, 2022, at 11 AM with a viewing and rosary one hour prior to the Mass. We would like to thank the caring staff at Idaho Home Health and Hospice who help guide us thru this difficult journey as our mom made her way to her heavenly home. The Fontes Family
