Greis, Virginia A. †œGinger†� 1935 ~ 2012 Ginger, age 77 of Morrison, CO passed away on October 25, 2012. Born Virginia Alice Richardson on August 11, 1935 in Cambridge, MA, she was raised in Arlington, MA until relocating to New Rochelle, NY where she graduated from High School. She earned a Bachelor†™s Degree from Buffalo State Teachers College in Art Education in June, 1957. She taught art classes in eight rural grade schools located between Buffalo, NY and Lockport, NY. She travelled by car to each school carrying all her required supplies in the car. Ginger is survived by her husband of 55 years; Edward Greis; her children, Debra Kyler of Littleton, CO; Philip Greis of Lakeview, NY; Linda Barnet of Bilbao, Spain; and preceded in death by Jeffrey Greis of Denver, CO. She has 6 grandchildren; four in Lakeview, NY and two in Texas. She is also survived by a sister, Barbara Jean (BJ) Heath who resides in Rochester, NY. Ginger resumed teaching as a substitute art teacher in junior high schools located in Amherst and Buffalo, NY. In the mid 1970†™s she became the Activities Director at St. Francis Nursing Home in Williamsville, NY for three years. Ginger†™s family relocated to Morrison, CO in 1982. Her later years were devoted to writing poetry and a Hug Mail Ministry through emails sent to sick and terminally ill children across the country. The stories were about her dog†™s life, as seen through the dog†™s eyes, and included a retired couple: Granny Smiles (Ginger) and Ed Elderly (Edward). Her stories included humorous events and graphics used to illustrate certain points, situations and life lessons. Many were animated and contained messages of hope and the need to obey authority in families, schools and neighborhoods. A Remembrance Service of her life will be held at the Aspen Mortuaries, 1350 Simms, Lakewood, CO at 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 8, 2012. Interment will be held privately at the Golden Cemetery, where son Jeffrey is placed and where husband, Edward, will be placed.
