(Evelyn) Virginia Muntman Virginia, 80, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. Evelyn Virginia Muntman was born May 27, 1929 in Meredosa, Illinois to (Evelyn) Boneta and Virgil William Muntman. She graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1947 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from Illinois College in 1951. In 1957 she received a Master’s Degree from Indiana University. She earned additional credits as well. Virginia had a long career as a high school teacher, teaching at various schools including Pana H.S., Pana, Illinois 1951 – 1953; LaPorte H.S. in LaPorte, Indiana 1954 – 1958; and DuPont Junior High School in DuPont, Washington 1958 – 1968, also Jefferson Middle School in Olympia. In her spare time, she always enjoyed a good book, sewing, crocheting, and traveling. She was very compassionate, always willing to care for others and share what she had. She was also lovingly known as the “odopinated aunt” of Jim and Ginny Lou Wilson. The highlight of Virginia’s service to others was the first Sunday of the month when all who chose to fellowship after church were welcomed to share in the warmth her compassion as she cooked up “Sunday Soup”. Virginia was very active in her community and church service. Over the years she served in many positions for the First Christian Church, Olympia, WA including Deaconess, Elder, Board Moderator, Elder Emeritus. While residing in LaPorte, she was a member of the Presbyterian Church; and in Jacksonville, she was an attendee of the Methodist Church. Virginia was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa International Sorority for Women Educators, serving in various offices and the Thurston County School Retirees Association where she served as newsletter editor. Surviving Virginia are her sisters, Wilma Bonneau of Scottsdale, AZ, Elizabeth (Betty) Shuttles of Woodson, Ill., and Bonnie Caldwell of Phoenix, AZ; also numerous nieces and nephews; special friends; Helena Wilson, Jim and Ginny Lou Wilson, Catherine Wilson (whom Virginia always called “Doll”). Preceding her in death were her parents, Virgil and Boneta Muntman. A service to celebrate Virginia’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m, Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the First Christian Church of Olympia, 701 Franklin St SE, Olympia, Washington, 98507-2850 Donations in Virginia’s name are suggested to: First Christian Church OR TO W.S.S.R.A Foundation 4726 Pacific Ave. SE Lacey WA 98503
