Murphy, Virginia E., 107, passed away on Friday September 8, 2006 in St. Petersburg, Florida, peacefully at home. Virginia was born in Enfield, Illinois, on May 20, 1899, the daughter and only child of Richard M. and Pet Lucinda Surguy Hall. She moved with her parents to St. Petersburg at the age of 3. She went to local schools until her last two years of high school when she moved with her family for her mother?s health, to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she graduated from high school. The family moved back to St. Petersburg and Virginia left to attend the Music conservatory in Cincinnati, Ohio and later to the Conservatory in Chicago, Illinois where she met and married Dr. Clarence A. Neymann, a Professor of Psychiatry at Northwester University. Virginia lived in Chicago until 1951 when Dr. Neymann died. She returned to Coral Gables and then to St. Petersburg where she met and married Dr. Ralph D. Murphy in 1961. Dr. Murphy died in 1972. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Museum of Fine Arts and the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Survivors are several cousins among them, Jacquelin Rocke, Mickey Walker and Al Welch. Her father, Richard M. Hall was a former Post Master at the St. Petersburg Post Office and both parents are part of Pioneer Park. She will be dearly missed by her survivors, friends and care givers.
