Virginia Mae Nelson

Virginia Mae Nelson 87, died on October 26, 2013 at home in Canby. She was born May 26, 1926, to Exie and Edith Humphries in Wenatchee, Washington. She graduated high school in 1944, from Pilot Rock, Oregon. She graduated from Behnke-Walker Business College and lived in Pendleton for approximately 40 years, and lived in Canby the last 25 years. She married Lewis M. Nelson on February 9, 1947; they were married 66 years. She was owner/operator of Memory Lane restaurant/motel in Pendleton, Oregon, and administrative assistant at State Farm Insurance in Pendleton. She was a member of New Life Four Square in Canby. Survivors include her husband, Lewis Nelson, daughter; Nancy Birkemeier, of Canby; son, Ron Nelson of Redmond, son-in-law Richard Birkemeier, of Canby, daughter-in-law, Christine Nelson, of Redmond, daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Schultz, of Milwaukie, Oregon and brother Don Humphries, of Parkrose. She has 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Dan A. Nelson. Their will be a service at New Life Four Square Church in Canby with Al Carpenter officiating on Saturday, November 9, 2013 10:30 am. Committal will be at Zion Memorial Cemetery in Canby.
