Virginia Rose Powers Ojala has passed to her eternal reward on June 21st, 2012. At the time of her death, she resided at her home in Fairfax, Virginia. She was 89 years old. Virginia was married for 45 years, to Leslie William Ojala who died in 1989. She and Leslie built their home in Fairfax in 1952, where she lived until her death. Together, they spent many enjoyable months at their cabin on Lake Michigamee near Champion, Michigan. She is survived by her four children, Donna (Richard) Caruso, Pamela (George) Braun, Gina (Shannon) Foust, and John (Jami) Ojala. Her six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren will miss her. Virginia was born in Waukegan, Illinois to James Powers and Elsie Seif. She was the oldest of four siblings, and was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmie, and her sister, Fern. Her brother, Raymond, lives in Waukegan. Virginia was a loving wife, mom and grandma, homemaker, flower gardener and accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed knitting, playing rummy, and visits from her children, grandchildren, and great-grand children. She loved traveling, and was a member of the Fairfax Golden Rays dance group. She volunteered and shopped with much pleasure for many years at the Fairfax INOVA Hospital Thrift Shop. She was a member of Saint Ambrose Catholic Church in Fairfax. Virginia will be buried with Leslie in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery. A date of the inurnment has not been determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to her favorite charity, Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital Mom, say hi to Dad from all of us. Give him our love. We’ll see you both again.
