AUBURNDALE – Mrs. Virginia C. “Toddy” Owen, age 103, passed away on May 3, 2018 at Spring Lake Rehabilitation Center in Winter Haven. She was born in Yardly, PA on January 28, 1915 to Harry & Gertrude Corneal. The family moved to Auburndale, FL in 1921 where she attended school. She was a cheerleader and played basketball at Auburndale High School. Toddy was a member of the Sorosis Ladies Club of Auburndale. She married the love of her life, Otto C. “Bud” Owen, and enjoyed 58 years together. They spent many summers at their second home in Hendersonville, NC. Her greatest joys in life were her family, faith and friends. She spent 21 happy years at Spring Haven Retirement Center and maintained a positive and happy attitude throughout her entire life. She is preceded in death by: her Husband. Virginia is survived by; Son: Philip (Chris) Owen, Daughter: Janie (Bill) Brigman. Four Grandchildren: Tracy, Heather, Julie, & Nicole. Four Great-Grandchildren and Brother: D.H. “Bud” Corneal. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale in Virginia’s name.
