Mr. Vito J."Patty" Martuscello, of Amsterdam, who recently hit the milestone of 100 years old, passed away peacefully on, Monday July 22, 2013, at E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, with his loving family by his side. He was of the Roman Catholic faith and a parishioner of the former St. Michael the Archangel R.C. Church. He was a lifelong area resident. Born May 10, 1913 to the late, Aniello Martuscello and Lena Bufo Martuscello, Vito spent his life working as a boiler tender at Sonoco Paper Product for 42 years. On Feb., 11 1934 he was united in marriage to his loving wife for over 75 years, the late Antoinette Polito Martuscello, who passed in 2010. Vito was a hard working man and spent his life working to provide for his family and always put family first. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time outdoors and was also a master gardener. He was known for his large gardens which included many vegetables and a separate garden full of beautiful flowers. Vito is survived by his loving children, Daniel MartuscelloSheila, of Amsterdam; Richard MartuscelloLorraine, of Dover, N.H.; Joseph MartuscelloIrene, of Amsterdam; and Theresa CrankerBill, of Amsterdam. A dear brother-in-law Father Victor Polito, of Amsterdam; Twenty two grandchildren; forty-six great-granchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren also survive. He was predeceased not only by his loving wife, Antoinette, but also his daughter, Immaculate "Mackie" Colangelo; Two grandsons, Mathew Martuscello, and Jeffery Poole ; also one great-granddaughter, Samantha Wiley; brothers, William, Jerry, Jimmy, and Rudy Martuscello. Vito was also predeceased by one sister, Josephine DePascale. The family of Vito invites relatives and friends to attend a calling period from 4:00-7:00P.M. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Chapel of Betz, Rossi, and Bellinger Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, N.Y., 12010. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11:00A.M. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, with Fr. Victor Polito to preside over all services. An interment will immediately follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam, N.Y. Vito's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at Wilkinson, who made his many years there comfortable. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Vito's memory to The Matt Martuscello Memorial Scholarship Fund. Donations can be made or sent to in care of the funeral home.
