Vivian Duane Edwards
November 10th, 1953 - October 18th, 2011
Vivian Duane Edwards Vivian Duane Edwards, 57, surrounded by her family and close friends, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on October 18, 2011 at Providence St. Peter Hospital, Olympia, Washington. Vivian was born in Morenci Arizona on November 10, 1953 to Pete and Josie Villa. She was raised in Cosmopolis Washington, graduated from St Mary's Elementary School, Aberdeen High School in 1972 and Dewitt Beauty School in 1973. Vivian owned and operated two hair styling salons, "The Cut Above" in Aberdeen and "Looks" in Olympia. Vivian had worked at Sharp Hair Design in Olympia for the last ten years. Vivian was well liked by her co-workers and had a long list of loyal clientele, some who followed her from Aberdeen for over 20 years. On March 3, 1972, Vivian married the love of her life Richard Edwards who preceded her in death in 2005. Vivian is survived by her three children, Brendan and Johnnie Edwards, Joely Eilers and the apple of her eye, her granddaughter, Billie Edwards whom she called "Monkey." Other surviving family members: Pete Villa, Pahrump, Nevada; Josie Villa, Shelton; Warren and Pearl Edwards, Olympia; Larry Villa (Donna) Yuma Arizona; Debbie Trautman (Len) Cosmopolis; Conrada Villa-McGrath (Douglas); Shelton; Pamela Lukin (George) Cosmopolis; Judy Ask, Hoquiam; Teresa Rode (Leon) Roseville California; along with her God Children, Peta Crites, Shelton; Sophia Khan, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Vivian was known for her dry sense of humor, honesty, her love of music, Stephen King novels, and watching Jeopardy nightly, and was often referred to as a human encyclopedia. Vivian was a very private person who loved all animals, especially her dogs, Lovee, Nolan, Allen and cat, Dude. In earlier years, Vivian enjoyed photography and won many awards for her photographs at various competitions. She was an avid cyclist and completed the Seattle to Portland, Centralia to Chehalis and San Juan's cycling trips, all benefiting Multiple Sclerosis. Although Vivian couldn't swim, she owned a small sail boat and relished her quiet sailing trips. She had a talent for sewing and quilting and often shared her lovely works of art with family and friends. She looked forward to travels to Matzatlan, Mexico yearly, where she owned a time share, and frequently invited family and close friends to enjoy the people, food, sun and sunsets. A special thank you from Vivian's family to Wynee Sharp, Deborah Flynn, Myra Kahle and Carol Person who offered their continuous love and support to Vivian and her family throughout her illness. Vivian was a member of St. Michael's Parish, Olympia, Washington. Happy Trails to my beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to PAWS, American Cancer Society, or Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Please leave memories of Vivian or condolences for the family in the Guestbood below.
