Walter Jay Doty
August 13th, 1960 - April 5th, 2020
Walter J. Doty was born August 13, 1960 in Caldwell to Vivian Courtright (Helsel) and James Doty. At 59 years young he passed away peacefully at home in Glenns Ferry surrounded by family. Due to social restrictions a funeral service will not be held, however, the family will plan a celebration of life sometime this summer. Jay was always known to make people smile and laugh. Whether it was playing Santa and delivering stuffed animals to children at Christmas, just being goofy or always having a lame joke, making others happy is what truly made him happy. His grandkids were the light of his life. Fishing with them was his happy place. Jay had a heart of gold. He was loved by all and will truly be missed. Jay was survived by the love of his life of 40 years Vertie Doty, children Chad Doty and Heather Guthrie, his mother Vivian Helsel, siblings Judy Dunn, Charles Freouf, Darrel Freouf, Jim Doty and Tina Irving and 6 grandkids Jaidyn, Lily, Alex, Corbin, Lizzy and Kali. Jay was preceded in death by his brother Gene and father Jim. Cremation under the care of Rost Funeral Home.

Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
