Walter Lee Dulin passed away on Wednesday, December 10th, at the age of 86. He was born on April 27, 1928, to the late Martin Odell and Shannon Abernethy Dulin in Charlotte, NC, and was baptized into God"s Kingdom at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. He graduated from Oakhurst High School and Oak Ridge Military Institute. He served in the U S Coast Guard during World War II. He later graduated from King"s Business College with a degree in Business Administration and then joined R.S. Dickson & Co where he began his career as a stock trader. From 1963 to 1970, he worked for Powell Kistler & Co, in Fayetteville, NC, and returned to Charlotte when the two companies merged. R.S. Dickson, Powell, Kistler, and Crawford eventually merged with EF Hutton. In 1987, he joined First Tryon Securities which later became NationsBanc Securities. He established the first over the counter (OTC) trading desk for NationsBanc, now Bank of America, and retired in 1994. During his 43 years as an OTC Trader, he helped to organize the NC Security Traders Association and served in many leadership roles including President in 1981. He was not only a member of Christ Lutheran Church, but he along with his late wife Janice worked diligently to establish the church in 1954 as Charter Members. He was a man of deep and unwavering faith who loved his Church and his Church family. He served on the Church Council and as Chairman of the Finance Committee, Treasurer of the first Building Fund, Co-Chair and Treasurer of the Pipe Organ Fund for the second sanctuary. In recognition of his commitment to the church, he was named an Honorary Life Member of the NC Lutheran Men in 1997. In retirement, he volunteered regularly in the church office as well as at Crisis Assistance Ministry and as a Motorman with the Charlotte Trolley. He was predeceased in death by his beloved wife of 64 years Janice Seagle, by his sister Josephine Wike, and by his brothers Martin Odell Dulin Jr. and Adrian Dulin. He is survived by his daughter Linda Dulin Cagley and husband Mark, son Freddie Lee Dulin and wife Linda, granddaughters Catherine Cagley, Lauren Cagley, and Kalli Dulin, sister Christine Morrison and husband Ed, sister-in-law Gertrude Allran and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He loved spending time with family, especially his granddaughters. He will be remembered as a man of great integrity and generosity and as a true gentleman who greeted everyone with a smile, a handshake, and a kind word. The family wishes to thank all who helped to care for him especially Dr. Gulati and Lisa with Sanger"s Heart Failure Team, Nanette with Hospice, and many "Visiting Angels". The funeral will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at 2:30 pm at Christ Lutheran Church in Charlotte, with graveside service immediately following at Sharon Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 pm at the church.
