Walter C Hansen

September 17th, 1930 - April 9th, 2024

Walter C Hansen, 93, of Lakewood, CO passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024. 

He was born on September 17, 1930, to Walter and Ruth (Prechtl) Hansen and grew up on a farm in Mead, CO.  He graduated from Mead High School in 1948.  In March of 1951 he was drafted into the US Army.  He honorably served his country in Korea where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. 

 

Upon returning home to Colorado, he married Dorothy Pearson on November 25, 1954.  They were happily married for 69 years and lived in Lakewood the entire time.  Walter worked at Gates Rubber Company for 37 years.  Upon retiring he enjoyed walking, hiking, riding motorcycles with family, reading, traveling, yardwork and enjoying life to its fullest.  He had a passion for cars and enjoyed car shows and working on his Model A, T-Bird, Olds 442, Lexus and many others over the years. 

 

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his daughter Monica (Vito) Nuccio, his son Ronald (Merry) Hansen all of Lakewood, CO and his brother Carl (Zola) Hansen of Austin, Texas as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

In keeping with Walter’s and Dorothy’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service.  His ashes will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery. 

 

In lieu of donations and flowers we simply ask that you remember Walter as the kind and wonderful man that he was.
