Walter B. Horton
May 9th, 1918 - November 9th, 2007
Walter B. Horton, 89, of Upper Market Street, passed into the arms of the Lord on Friday evening at his home. Born in Live Oak, Florida on May 9, 1918, he was the son of Roosevelt and Lillie R. J. Brown Horton. He lived in New York City for many years and worked for the city?s Transit System until he retired. He moved to Amsterdam in 1989. While in New York, he was a member of the Masonic Palestine Lodge #79, serving as Past Master, a member of the Adoniran Chapter #2, the Pilgrim Commandery, King David Grand Consistory, the Crescent Temple and AAONMS Lodge. During World War II, he served with the US Army in the European Theater as a private first class. Walter was awarded the European, African and Good Conduct medals. A wonderful and devoted family man, he was a member of the Calvary Assembly Of God in Amsterdam. He leaves his beloved wife, Celina Nova Horton whom he married on May 24, 1972. A daughter; Xiomara Nova of New York City and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are Thursday at 11:00 am at the Calvary Assembly Of God Church, 200 East main Street. Pastor Siegfried Ignecia officiating. Interment is in the Saratoga BH Solomon National Veteran?s Cemetery , Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday evening from 4-7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Contributions may be made in his memory to Calvary Assembly Of God, in care of the funeral home office.
