Rev. Walter C. Pierce, 91, of Parrish, Florida passed away on March 26, 2016. Mr. Walter Pierce was born on June 27, 1924 in New Jersey. He graduated from the University of Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Mr. Pierce was a retired minister who led the congregation of the First Assembly of God, Freehold Township, New Jersey for many decades. When he retired, he moved to the Sarasota area. He became an active member of the Tabernacle Church of Sarasota, Florida where he met Alice Odegaard, his wife of twenty-two years. He is survived by Alice and his beloved daughter Karen Harvey and her husband Roy and his daughter-in-law Dorothy Pierce-Snow. He leaves seven granddaughters and their spouses and twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Alice’s daughter, Joy Clemons and grandson and Alice’s sons Steven Odegaard and David Odegaard. He is predeceased by his son Walt Jr. and his first wife Phyllis. Mr. Pierce was a gracious and faithful man, devoted to his ministry, and known for his gentle spirit and prayerful attitude. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Details for a memorial celebration of Mr. Pierce will follow.
