Wanda Lucille (Bishop) Scott-Armstrong

November 11th, 1935 - April 29th, 2024

Wanda Lucille (Bishop) Scott-Armstong peacefully passed away on Monday, April 29 with family at her side. Wanda was born in Chicago, Illinois November 11,1935 to Ira Elmore and Matilda Martha Bishop. Her husbands, Oscar Dean Scott and Dalton “Pete” Armstrong, pre-deceased her.

Wanda was a Registered Nurse for her 50-year work career. Her real calling, however, was as mother and loving mentor to her children.

Wanda and first husband, Oscar Dean Scott, were blessed with five children who survived her: Thomas (Karen), Kathryn, Teresa (Rich), Patricia, and Charles (Vicki), eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was stepmother to Dalton, Phyllis and Vicky with her second husband, Dalton "Pete" Armstrong.  In addition, she is survived by many cousins and friends.

She was Den Mother with the Boy Scouts, a Girl Scout Leader, and a summer-time Swim Team Mom. She solo'd while pursuing her private pilot's license when pregnant with Charles in 1970!

Prior to COVID, Wanda was active in the 50’s Club of St Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church, where she met Bob Huckelberry. They became frequent companions for many years and shared many friends and fun adventures together.

Mom succumbed to Parkinson's Disease. She was lovingly cared for by Terry Ryan and her wonderful team at Eternal Life Memory Care home. Words can’t begin to express our gratitude for their many hands of love during Mom’s final years.

Wanda will be put to rest with her first husband, Oscar, at graveside services at the Mausoleum of Holy Hope Cemetery on Saturday, May 11 at 10 am.
