Wanda Lee Nichols (Peterman), 68, of Tucson, Arizona went home to Jesus on October 2, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Velma Crawford, William O. Clause and Ferdie Alkire and brother Ronald Alkire. She is survived by her devoted companion, Hershel Buckner; daughters, Christy (Jim) Price, Angela (Jon) Ziegler and Teresa (Monty) Peterman; brother, William D. (Judy) Clause; grandchildren, Talena (Mark), Jon (Heather), Zachary (Ashley) and James; great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Brianna, Brendan, Lea and Lexi; and extended family, Kim, Dorian, David, Rick, Pat, Stephanie, Anthony, Kathy, Marcos, Dalton and Morgan. Wanda or "Mom" as she was known to many, had a smile and personality that captured the hearts of those blessed to know her. Her determination to overcome life's hardships exemplified her resilient spirit and her faith carried her through. Bringing her family closer to God was her hearts desire. The family would like to thank all her compassionate caregivers. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Tucson Community Church, 8150 N. Sandy Desert Trail. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tucson Community Church or Gospel Rescue Mission. Arrangements entrusted to Desert Sunset Funeral Home (297-9007).
