Waneta Gertrude Richards (Caswell), 95, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Waneta was born on September 27, 1926 in Plainfield, VT to the late Loyal and Gertrude (Jaquish) Richards. Waneta spent a majority of her career working at Coleco Industries as a Machine Operator. After leaving Coleco, Waneta established her own professional cleaning service, serving various homes and businesses throughout the area. Throughout her life, Waneta always enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchildren. She loved to attend family gatherings, go bowling, play Bingo, gamble, and dance. She also enjoyed the great outdoors, and had a strong affinity for butterflies. Waneta leaves behind her loving family, including her children; Guy, Sheila, Kathleen, David, Stephanie, Stacey, and Sonya; twenty one grandchildren, thirty two great-grandchildren, twenty four great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Aside from her parents, Loyal and Gertrude, Waneta is preceded in passing by her son, Scott, her six brothers, and one sister. Funeral services will be held privately, at the convenience of Waneta’s family. She will be laid to rest in Green Hill Cemetery, in Amsterdam with her son Scott.
