February 6th, 1954 - September 25th, 2021
Wanita Marie Wilson left us on Septmeber 25th, 2021, with her Family by her side in Tacoma Washington. Wanita Marie Wilson was born In Duncan BC on Febuary 6th, 1954 to Gustave Wilson and Gladys Brown. Wanita was a homemaker, she enjoyed fishing on the Skagit river with Mary Jack. She enjoyed being in the mountains carrying on her culture harvesting with the seasons picking blackberries, blueberries and collecting cedar bark. Wanita also enjoyed harvesting Pine cones, cedar tips, pearlys and cascara with her Siblings. Wanita was an avid crafter, she enjoyed knitting, beading and sewing and was learning to weave cedar. Wanita was a devoted Mother and Grandmother her family was the most important part of her life, she enjoyed traveling wih her family on canoe journeys and preparing for big family dinners. She was a woman who loved going to trbal senior luncheons because she enjoyed seeing her family and spending time with them. Wanita very much enjoyed going to the casino with her family and playing slot machines!!! Wanita was a spiritual woman who practiced her Native Culture. She was a member of the smokehouse and she began her journey on January 10th 1993 with Oakie & Jean Joe’s and was later adopted into the Swinomish Smokehouse that same winter with her sister Donna Williams. Wanita was a survivor of the Penelakut residental school located in British Cloumbia Canada. Wanita is preceded in death by her Son: Leslie Williams, Father: Gustave Wilson of Cowichan ,Mother : Gladys Eva Brown of Puyallup,Grandparents: Felix Wilson Cecilia Joe, Patrick Brown Sr, Cora Richards-Brown. Siblings: Donna Williams, Judy Charles, Patricia Schell Beverly Wilson,Leona Wilson, August Jeffrey Wilson, Signa Hutchins. Daughter in-law Roberta Christy Williams. Wanita is survived by her Siblings: Winnifred Enick - Tacoma, Lois Winebrenner - Chehalis, Gus Wilson - Duncan, Robert Reece -Tacoma, Paula Wilson - Mexico, Jason Thomas of Duncan and Kevin Slattum. Childeren: Janet Williams & Dave Williams, Jackie Adams & Pete Adams Jr, Randolph Williams. Grandchildren: Natasha Yakanak, Hunter Williams, Jaxon Adams, Anaysa Adams, Kylee Adams, Tristan Adams, Tiffany Adams, Nicole Williams, Kyle Williams. Great Grandchildren: William Yakanak, Vincent Cayou 3rd and Serenity Galler. And numerous nieces and nephews. Wanita will be deeply missed by her friends, Family and all that knew her.
