A Life Tribute Funeral Care - Largo
Warren E. McAllister
November 17th, 1954 - June 6th, 2016
Warren E. McAllister, Jr. completed his life on June 6, 2016 at the age of 61. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he moved to St. Petersburg in 1976. He is survived by his children Jake B. McAllister of St. Petersburg, his daughter Erin M. Strott and her husband D.J. Strott, of Palmetto, Florida and his granddaughter Harper Wren Strott. He is also survived by his sister, Connie E. Camp of Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey, and nephew Ryan S. Camp of St. Petersburg. He is preceded in death by his parents Warren and Constance McAllister formerly of St. Petersburg. While growing up in Philadelphia, he attended Central High School and was an exceptional athlete. It was not uncommon for Warren to be covered in the Philadelphia print media for his outstanding play. His mother took great pride in placing all of the articles in scrapbooks. She kept one for his football accolades and one for his baseball accolades. In fact, he was so good that he was granted a tryout for the Philadelphia Phillies at age 16. He did pretty well for a kid his age until he had to face a left handed pitcher. While a Senior at Central High, Warren received a football scholarship to the University of Southern California and a baseball scholarship to Temple University. He opted for baseball at Temple University at the young age of 17. It was not meant to be because the call of playing ice hockey with his buddies and driving a dry ice truck for 10 bucks an hour (big money back in 1975) was stronger than the call of going to class. However, he did not give up on his education. After moving to Florida, Warren completed his Bachelor's in Education and was an honors graduate from Florida State University. He forever remained a devoted "Nole" fan. Warren spent most of his adult professional life as a manager for Neighborly Senior Services (now The Neighborly Care Network) overseeing several adult dining sites for Seniors. He was well loved by the ones he served and dedicated to the Seniors that attended the sites on a daily basis. In his adult years he played softball and tennis. His real love was fishing. He was an avid fisherman with a talent for catching the elusive snook. He was most happy in his boat, fishing the back-country waters of Tampa Bay. Without a doubt, Warren's greatest achievement during his lifetime are his children Erin and Jake. He is the father of two outstanding individuals who know the importance of family, are productive in their lives, and are dedicated to each other as brother and sister. Warren, this is your proud legacy. Peace be with you. Donations in his memory can be made to the Tampa Bay Estuary Program. http://www.tbep.org/
