Warren G. Rose
October 28th, 1920 - October 21st, 2012
Warren G. Rose October 28, 1920 – October 21, 2012 Born in Eros, Arkansas, and a former resident of Yakima, Washington, Warren was an orchardist on Naches Heights for twenty years prior to retiring. After living in Olympia for the last four years, Warren passed away just short of his 92nd birthday. Warren is survived by his devoted wife of almost 70 years, Daphna, and his loving family: his four daughters, Judy Allen (Richard), Margaret Shultz (Michael), Kathy Chamberlin (Steve), Sharon Rose Smith (Laurence); his six grandchildren, Tyler Maalo (Noriko), Melanie Chamberlin, Bryce Chamberlin (Alyson), Joel Smith, Erica Shultz, Elisabeth Smith, and two great-grandchildren, Alena and Keala Maalo. Warren was predeceased by his parents Ola and L.C. Rose, his sister, Moyra Tabor, and survived by brothers Loy, Gerald, and Eugene Rose, plus numerous nieces and nephews. As a World War II veteran, Warren’s service to his country included landing at Omaha Beach on D-Day Plus One, and other historic battles. A longtime member of the Church of Christ, Warren was steadfast in both his religious and political beliefs. Especially known for his love of basketball and baseball, at almost any level, Warren’s athletic skills were displayed during his early years at Pyatt High School – and he remained a competitor on the court with whomever he faced. His fondness for country music in which he always found enjoyment was also deeply rooted, and it would frequently surface in his warm bass – and a knowing smile – that reflected his sense of humor. His true nature was exhibited in his readiness to help others, his witty comments, and his resilience as he endured his last years with grace and without complaint. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, October 27 at 11:30am, Terrace Heights Memorial Park, Yakima, Washington. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to: Providence St. Peter Foundation, 413 Lilly Road NE, Olympia, WA 98506 attn: SoundHomeCare & Hospice. Online at or to: VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Voluntary Service (A-135), 9600 Veterans Drive, Tacoma, WA 98493 or a charity of your choice.
