Wava Jayne Turner
November 1st, 1929 - May 26th, 2012
Wava Jayne Turner Wava passed away at home on May 26, 2012, with her family by her side. She was born to Palmer and Emily Berg on November 1, 1929. Wava is survived by two sons, Sam (Elaine) and Bill (Sheryl); two daughters, Kathy (Lee) Cox and Karen Merritt; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Bill; daughter, Karen Marie; and brother, Palmer Berg. Wava graduated from Olympia High School’s class of 1947. She then went to work in the office at the Olympia Creamery. In 1952, she went to work for the State Welfare Office. In 1956, she went to work as the office manager for Miller’s Department Store and worked there for 16 years. In 1986, Wava went to work for Grimm Collection Agency. In 1992, she and Bill retired to Elma and resided at the Viking West Mobile Home Park where she had many friends, especially her “walking buddies.” Wava loved going to the beach, digging clams, salmon fishing, and a good martini. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was loved and respected by many and will be missed. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 23, at the Microtel Inn, 800 E. Main St., Elma, Washington, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank her hospice nurses, Susan and Marilyn, and the Grays Harbor County medics. Please leave memories of Wava or condolences for the family in the Guestbook below.
