CELEBRATING the LIFE of WAYNE DENNIS HUBER

Wayne, age 74, passed on to our Heavenly Father at Veterans Community Living Center at Fitzsimons, 1919 Quentin Street, Aurora, CO on April 30, 2024.  He was the ninth child of the late Reuben and Agatha (Gillig) Huber.  Wayne was born on December 2, 1949, at St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, ND.  The family lived west of Harvey, ND, on their farmstead.  Wayne attended his school years in the Harvey Public School District. In February 1970, Wayne received his draft orders from the U.S. Army, sighting his Friends and Neighbors needed him; he reported to Fort Lewis in Washington State to complete his basic training.  In July 1970, he was sent off to war in Vietnam.  Wayne returned to U.S. soil in June of 1971.  Because of serving his country in Vietnam, he earned the Army Commendation Medal and the BRONZE STAR Medal for meritorious achievement and service in ground operations against hostile forces.  In 1975, Wayne was honored when he was elected to become the commander of Harvey’s VFW Post for one year.

Wayne met his future wife, Cheryl Allen, in 1973 during her first year of teaching in Harvey, ND.  Wayne proposed to her on Valentine’s Day just three months after they met, and they married three months later.  They were united in marriage at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND on May 31, 1974, and celebrated 47 years of love for one another.  Following their marriage, they lived in Harvey and were blessed with two children, Trish Ann born in 1976 and Troy Allen in 1979.  While living in Harvey, Wayne was a certified technician for Harvey Motors, Bentz Implement, and Ripplinger Motors.  He also was a laborer for Keller’s Plumbing & Heating. In August of 1989, the family moved to Bismarck, ND.  Wayne was employed as a certified technician at Stan Puklich Chevrolet until his retirement in December 2012.  Following his retirement, Wayne worked seasonal shifts for the Bismarck Parks & Recreation Department.

Throughout their marriage, Wayne & Cheryl traveled extensively, state side and to many European countries.  Wayne also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, wood crafting, socializing, and camping.  He was a member of the House of Prayer Lutheran Church, Bismarck, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Wayne is survived by a daughter, Trish (Cole) Berreth of Gill, CO, a son Troy (Jessica Kruckeberg) Huber of Aurora, CO, and grandchildren Brant Huber and Nora Berreth, Gill, CO.  He is also survived by seven sisters, Loretta Buchwitz, Harvey, ND, Dianne Ripplinger, Mesa, AZ, Lori (William) Frisby, West Monroe, LA, Carol (Scott) Reed, Tempe, AZ, Sandy (Russell) Horbal, Crystal, MN, Roxanne (Brian) Moening, Temecula, CA, and JoAnn (Tom) Lucas, Rolette, ND, and brothers, Archie (Maggie) Huber, Minneapolis, MN, and “little brother,” Troy Reed, AZ, and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
